Welcome to my website. I am a writer, journalist and broadcaster specialising in Iran. I also write travel books and am a magazine editor and lifestyle journalist too with specialities in Italy, health, beauty, yoga and fashion. My book, The Cypress Tree, was published by Bloomsbury in July 2011, the paperback will be out in August 2012.

As an Iranian who has grown up largely in the UK but spent part of every year in Iran, I am uniquely placed to commentate on life in the Islamic Republic and as such I am regularly invited to give public talks about modern Iran in the UK and USA.

My Iran journalism has been nominated for an Amnesty Human Rights in Journalism award and most recently I have been nominated by the American Society of Magazine Editors for a National Magazine Award 2011 for an essay on Iran published in the Virginia Quarterly Review.

I have co-authored the Lonely Planet Guide to Iran, appeared as a commentator on various BBC, Channel Four and American radio stations and published many substantial features for UK broadsheets and magazines as well as international publications, most of which can be viewed by clicking on the links above.
