In early 2009, Kamin Mohammadi has just been made redundant from her high-powered London job. Burnt out, broken-hearted and feeling a failure, she decamps to a friend’s apartment in Florence. On arrival, she finds the city rain-soaked and herself adrift.
As Kamin explores Florence’s bustling markets and meets new companions, she gains a re-energised lease of life. Her hair begins to shine and her skin glows with the pleasures of eating, living and loving the Italian way…
With delicious recipes and stories that resonate with many, ‘Bella Figura’ is to be published on 5th April. During her last visit to Calcot, Kamin talked about ‘The Cypress Tree’ and now returns to recount her Italian voyage of discovery.
Born in Iran, Kamin was exiled to the UK at the age of 10 in 1979. As a journalist, writer and broadcaster she has written for The Times, the Financial Times, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and the Guardian, to name a few. She has appeared as a commentator on various BBC, Channel Four and American radio stations.
