Increasingly, I appreciate gathering with my students IRL and find that personal encounters give a much richer connection for the sort of teaching I do. This year I am concentrating on personal mentorships in person either in Florence (from 3-maximum 7 days) or for longer in my little town in Umbria, where I combine elements of Bella Figura, deep encounters with world-class art/beauty, somatic/bodywork, yoga/breathwork or other spiritual practice with immersion in the countryside, visits to artisans, farmers and markets, with plenty of writing technique exercises, dedicated writing time, workshops that concentrate on different approaches and topics, as well as lots of personalised feedback. I find that when we fall into rhythm together, my students have access to greater creativity and inspiration than when alone, and this immersive time fosters a deeper sinking into the project - be it a book, a movie script, an article - and also helps them get a fresh overview of what they are writing. For now, these personal encounters are on offer for the rest of the year by individual application only.
I also hold monthly Sunday workshops in Umbria - a whole day of writing in community where we eat together and write around specific themes, with my specially created Writing As Medicine technique exercises and prompts and feedback. These days are community-orientated, which means there is no set fee, just a suggestion of a contribution so people are not constrained by finances. If you live in Italy (or are visiting) and would like to be kept informed on these Sunday workshops, please email me and I can put you on the mailing list.
